Oval Coffee Roasters is an independent New York City coffee company founded by Christopher Alspach and Andrew Itzkowitz. We build approachable light and light-to-medium roast coffees around three clear profiles: Women-Grown, Natural Process, and Half Caff.
Our aim is simple: make specialty coffee easier to understand, easier to brew, and worth returning to every day. We roast for clarity, sweetness, balance, and a clean finish across whole bean coffee and Pour Over Single Serves.

Coffee with a clear reason to exist
Rather than asking people to decode a long list of unfamiliar coffee terms, Oval begins with an idea they can understand. Bowling Green centers Women-Grown coffee. The Natural expresses the fruit-forward character of natural processing. Riverside brings caffeinated coffee and sugarcane-process decaf together in a balanced Half Caff.
Each profile has its own purpose, while the collection shares a consistent approach to roasting: preserve the coffee’s character, develop sweetness and structure, and create a cup that feels inviting rather than overly dark or difficult.
Natural Process coffee
Fruit-forward and aromatic, with expressive character developed from the coffee and its processing—not added flavoring.
Half Caff coffee
A smooth 50/50 blend of caffeinated coffee and sugarcane-process decaf for a balanced, lower-caffeine routine.

Oval offers the three core coffee profiles in formats built for different moments. Whole bean coffee gives you control over the grind and brewer. Pour Over Single Serves contain real ground coffee in an integrated drip filter that rests over a mug.

Open the filter, place it over a mug, and add hot water. No proprietary brewer, pod, capsule, or coffee machine is required.

Co-Founder and Director of Coffee Christopher Alspach has worked in specialty coffee since 2007 and in full-time roasting since 2012. His work at Oval spans coffee selection, roast development, production consistency, sensory evaluation, quality control, and brewing.
Andrew Itzkowitz
Co-Founder and Managing Director Andrew Itzkowitz leads Oval’s growth across retail, distribution, wholesale, hospitality, and foodservice. His work focuses on making the products clear at the shelf, useful across service environments, and consistent as the company grows.
