Red Mountain

$22.00

A truly rare and unusual coffee, this one has taken many of our friends and customers by surprise, presenting big round fruit flavors, intense sweetness, and a pleasantly earthy barnyard character in the fragrance and finish.

A rare sundried natural from Papua New Guinea, this coffee is as wild as they come. The lot is assembled from crops throughout the Eastern Highlands region, mainly from two of our favorite varieties, Typica and Bourbon. The Typica is very obvious, with distinctively long, narrow beans.

Given the varying sources and varieties, there is an extreme diversity in roast level from bean to bean, which flavor-wise shouldn’t work, but it does. This coffee distinctly does not fit the pristine-and-clean a la classic Yirgacheffe type flavor profile (or western hemisphere imitators), nor does it fit the yeast/anaerobic/co-fermented Reddit/Discord style fermentation bomb.

We’re proud to bring you a coffee simply represents a thing that happened in a random place in the middle of the Pacific, using a somewhat reckless but genius approach to creating coffee quality that leans heavily on the unfaltering loveliness of traditional coffee varieties. See for yourself! If you hate it, we’ll replace it with something else.
